NoViolet Bulawayo, born Elizabeth Zandile Tshele, is a celebrated Zimbabwean author known for her evocative storytelling and unique prose. She was born on October 12, 1981, in Tsholotsho, Zimbabwe, and later moved to the United States, where she pursued her education and writing career.
Bulawayo received her MFA from Cornell University in 2010, further honing her literary craft. Her debut novel, "We Need New Names," published in 2013, garnered international acclaim for its vivid portrayal of a young girl’s experience in a Zimbabwean shantytown and her subsequent migration to America. The novel's themes of displacement, identity, and resilience struck a chord with readers worldwide.
In addition to her novels, Bulawayo's short stories have been featured in various literary journals and anthologies. Her work often explores themes of cultural and personal identity, migration, and the socio-political landscape of Zimbabwe.
